Henry Grady Eldridge Jr.
DEKALB — Services for Henry Grady “Buddy” Eldridge Jr. will be held today at 11 a.m. at Stephens Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Sam Hull and Dr. Owen Gordon officiating. Burial will be in New Hope Methodist Church in DeKalb.
Mr. Eldridge, 69, of DeKalb, died Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2007, in DeKalb. He was born the fourth child of 10 children born and raised outside of DeKalb. He graduated from DeKalb High School in 1956, and became a county employee operating heavy equipment. He served for more than five years in the Mississippi National Guard. He retired after more than 30 years as a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of the National Fox Hunters Association and was a long time contributor to the North Shore Animal League Association. He made his profession of faith at New Hope Methodist Church where he was a member. He also assisted with the American Cancer Society “Relay For Life” in remembrance of his father, brother and sister.
Survivors include his 98 year old mother, Gladys Lucille Eldridge; his son, Henry Grady Eldridge III and his wife, Barbara, of Collinsville; a daughter, Susan “Susie” T. Henderson and her husband, Kent Henderson, of Jacksonville, Fla.; grandchildren, Jessica Denise Eldridge and Jason Allen Roberts; siblings, Lana and Johnny Goolsby, Polly and Edward Kirkland, Gladys and Brad Smith, Patsy and John Overton, Martin and Terry Eldridge, Linda Marsh, Cheryl and Eddie Sparkman and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Grady Eldridge Sr.; a sister, Eunice Katherine “Kitty” Brock and a brother, Kenneth C. “Bo” Eldridge.
William A. Moore
UNION — Services for William A. Moore will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with the Revs. Lin Chesney and Mike Truhett officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Milling Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Moore, 82, of Little Rock, died Friday, Aug. 24, 2007, in his home.
Survivors include his wife of more than 54 years, Myrna Moore of Little Rock; sons, Will Moore and his wife, Brenda, of Little Rock and Jerry Gibbs and his wife, Jeanny, of San Antonio; a daughter, Connie Dean and her husband, Rocky, of Collinsville; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his sons, Garry Moore and Larry Gibbs.
Pallbearers will be Lee Moore, Jesse Moore, George Chesney, Danny Moore, Gene Milstead, Greg Yeager and Timmy White.
Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.- 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Chain Isom Pitts
Graveside services for Chain Isom Pitts will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Coy Methodist Church Cemetery in Preston with the Rev. Ray Luke officiating. James F. Webb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Infant Pitts, died Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2007, at the University of Mississippi Children’s Hospital in Jackson.
Survivors include his mother, Shanta Roberson of Preston; his father, John Pitts of Preston; sisters, Winter Lane Pitts , April and Heather; a brother, Daniel; grandparents, Bruce and Phyllis Counts of Preston and Mr. and Mrs. Roberson of Louisville; great-grandfather, Wilber Goodin and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Infant Pitts was preceded in death by great-grandparents, Webb and Lizzie Goodin; great-grandmother, Faye Creech; aunt, Laura Ellis and a cousin, Michael Ellis.
Pallbearers will be Allan Walker and William Roberson.
Mary Carter
PHILADELPHIA — Services for Mary Carter will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Dr. Dan Howard and Dr. Eugene Dobbs officiating. Burial will be in Cedarlawn Cemetery in Philadelphia.
Mrs. Carter, 93, died Friday, August 24, 2007, at Heartfelt Hospice in Meridian.
She was born and raised in Neshoba County and made her home in Philadelphia most of her life.
She had lived at Aldersgate Retirement Community in Meridian since 2000. Mrs. Carter was a member of First Baptist Church in Philadelphia. She was a member of Eastern Star Chapter No. 91 in Philadelphia.
Survivors include her daughters, Celia Clark and her husband, Danny of Chunky, Cathy Harper and her husband, Buddy of Meridian; son, Tommy Carter and his wife, Carolyn of Lindale, Texas; granddaughters; Mary Cay Clark, Karen Dieckmann and Katie Harper; grandsons, Cary Carter, Charles Carter, Christopher Carter and Bill Clark; great-grandchildren, Christie Clark, Thomas Andrew Dieckmann and Thomas Edward Carter; sister-in-law, Esther Spears and special niece, Burnadyne Smith.
Pallbearers will be Drew Dieckmann, Oneil Smith, Ike Latimer, Christopher Carter, Bill Clark, and Charlie Ross.
James W. Carr
Retired construction worker
NEWTON — Services for James W. Carr will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Newton County Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Larry Laird officiating. Burial will be in Pine Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Carr, 89, of Lawrence, died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2007, at Heartfelt Hospice in Meridian.
Survivors include his wife of more than 66 years, Jewel Carr; a son, Bobby Carr; a daughter, Barbara Barnett; two brothers; two sisters; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by six siblings.
Visitation will be Sunday from 5 p.m.- 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Jessie M. McWilliams
Arrangements were incomplete at E.E. McDonald Funeral Home for Jessie M. McWilliams, 73, of Meridian, who died Thursday, Aug. 24, 2007, at Meridian Community Living Center.
