Reward increased in death of Corinth taxi driver

CORINTH, Miss. — A reward for information leading to an arrest in the recent death of Corinth taxi driver Cleo Henderson has grown to $3,200.

"We think there could be someone out there who knows who committed this crime or has some information about the case," said Police Chief David Lancaster.

Business owners and individuals have donated money for the reward, which would be in addition to a $1,000 reward offered by Crime Stoppers of Northeast Mississippi if information is reported through Crime Stoppers.

Police believe robbery was the motive.

The body of the 66-year-old Henderson was found outside Liberty Cab Service at 2:39 a.m. May 25 by a co-worker who had last talked to him about 1 a.m. Henderson was on the sidewalk, dead of a single gunshot wound.

Mayor Tommy Irwin acknowledged the passing of the longtime cab driver at the beginning of Tuesday's city board meeting.

"Probably at some time we have all used his taxi service," he said. "We're going to miss him."
