1 dead in shooting after high school football game

SARDIS, Miss. — Panola County authorities were expected to announce charges Monday in the shooting death of a teenager after a high school football game Friday night in Sardis.

Sheriff Dennis Darby says 15-year-old Roderick Bobo of Sardis died at a local hospital after being shot in the chest. Two other people were wounded but the wounds were not life-threatening.

Bobo was in the 10th grade at North Panola.

Darby says the shooting came at the end of the home football game between North Panola and Rosa Fort between the North Panola High School building and the principal's residence near U.S. Highway 51.

Darby says deputies interviewed dozens of witnesses to the shooting and looked at three surveillance videos from the school.

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is helping with the case.
