19 train cars derail near Ellisville

ELLISVILLE, Miss. — A locomotive and 19 cars of a freight train have derailed near Ellisville and authorities say there were no injuries.

Jones County Emergency Management officials say the accident happened around 4:15 a.m. Friday under the Mississippi Highway 590 overpass at U.S. Highway 11 in Jones County.

They say the cause of the accident is under investigation. They say there is no danger to the public.

Officials say roads are closed between Mississippi Highway 11 and Highway 29 so cleanup crews can get to work.
