1 dead, 1 injured in boating mishap in Gulfport

GULFPORT, Miss. —

Authorities say a boating mishap killed one teen and injured another while they were tubing in the Industrial Canal at Gulfport Lake.

Harrison County Coroner Gary Hargrove tells The Sun Herald (http://bit.ly/1c0M7rf ) 15-year-old Mason Turner, of Saucier, died at the scene Tuesday afternoon.

The name of the injured boy was not immediately available.

Hargrove says they were riding on a tube being pulled by a 21-foot boat.

He says the boat went around a curve and the tube slid out toward the bank and struck a tree.

The driver and three others were on the boat.
