Judge OKs delay in Dutschke sentencing

OXFORD —

OXFORD, Miss. (AP) — A federal judge has granted a request to provide the attorney for a 42-year-old man who pleaded guilty to sending poison-laced letters to President Barack Obama and other officials more time to review a pre-sentencing report.

James Everett Dutschke entered guilty pleas in January to manufacturing ricin, mailing threatening communications and threatening the president.

WTVA-TV reports (http://bit.ly/Oz0D1s ) no sentencing date had been set while federal officials prepared the pre-sentencing report. In the motion filed last week, Dutschke's attorney asked for more time to review and research the report.

On Tuesday, the judge signed an order granting him two more weeks. The order says objections to the pre-sentencing investigation should be filed by April 22.

Dutschke agreed to serve a 300-month sentence to the charges and is currently in federal custody.
