JACKSON, Miss. — Mississippi wildlife agents have captured a coyote after it became trapped in a parking garage in downtown Jackson.
The coyote was spotted about 6 a.m. Monday at the Woolfolk building parking garage off Lamar Street. WAPT-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1qMHM2i ) the coyote was later seen on the garage's fourth floor about 9 a.m. lying near the elevators and appeared scared and lost.
Wildlife agents caught the animal about an hour later. They say it appears to be 1 or 2 years old.
The coyote — which wasn't injured — was later released away from populated areas.
Ricky Flynt of the state Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks, says it's not uncommon to find coyotes living alongside people. He says it may have been looking for food when it got lost.
