Magee Man hangs self after stabbing woman to death


MAGEE, Miss. (AP) — A man has hanged himself in the Magee city jail after stabbing his girlfriend to death at a fast food restaurant.

Magee Police Chief Randy Crawford says 31-year-old Robert Williams attacked his girlfriend, 21-year-old Jessica Cromwell, at the Wendy's restaurant where Cromwell worked.

Williams was taken to Magee General Hospital, where she died from multiple stab wounds.

Other Wendy's employees followed Williams and called police. Crawford says police Williams after using a stun gun on him, recovering a weapon.

Williams was taken to the Magee jail, where police say they stripped his bloody clothing, leaving him wearing only boxer shorts and ankle socks.

Later Tuesday evening, Williams was found hanged from his shorts and socks tied together.

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is assisting the investigation.
