VICKSBURG —

VICKSBURG, Miss. (AP) — A Vicksburg man has been sentenced to 40 years in prison after pleading guilty to three sex crimes earlier this month.

Warren County Circuit Judge M. James Chaney sentenced 35-year-old Malcolm Shorter on charges of enticing a child to meet for sexual purposes, molestation and statutory rape.

Prosecutors tell the Vicksburg Post (http://bit.ly/16lqcF9 ) that Shorter was arrested Feb. 11 by Vicksburg police after a mother reported he had contacted her 13-year-old daughter on Facebook and asked the girl to have sex with him. When Shorter was arrested, officers discovered a warrant for his arrest in a 2011 statutory rape case.

In March, Shorter was charged with statutory rape for having sex with a 15-year-old girl.

Authorities say each of the sex cases had a different victim.
