Authorities say robbery was motive in shooting

STARKVILLE, Miss — Authorities say robbery may have been the motive behind a fatal shooting at a carwash in Starkville.

Starkville Police Chief David Lindley tells The Commercial Dispatch ( ) that a call came in at 5:27 a.m. Friday reporting a dead body at the Dawg Wash car wash on Stark Road.

The victim was identified as Ellis Wade Bishop. Bishop had been shot multiple times.

Three people have been arrested and charged with capital murder, which in Mississippi is a slaying that happens during the commission of another felony. It carries a possible death sentence or life in prison without parole.

Police say the underlying crime in this case is robbery and that drugs may have been involved as well.
