Man accused of stealing shotgun, shooting owner

TUPELO, Miss. — Lee County Sheriff Jim Johnson says a 47-year-old Tupelo man is accused of stealing a neighbor's 12-gauge shotgun and using it to shoot the neighbor.

Johnson tells the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal (http://bit.ly/158bPW8 ) that Kenneth McGhee — known as Peter Rabbit — was arrested on a charge of possessing a firearm after a felony conviction.

He says the neighbor, 48-year-old James Davis McGlaun, was treated at North Mississippi Medical Center after the shooting Friday afternoon. His wounds were not considered life-threatening.

An online jail roster indicates that McGhee is being held without bond. Johnson says more charges against McGhee are expected when he is arraigned Tuesday.

It was not clear whether McGhee has an attorney.
