Philadelphia man charged with insurance fraud

Associated Press

PHILADELPHIA —  PHILADELPHIA, Miss. (AP) — A Philadelphia, Miss., man has been charged with multiple counts of insurance fraud.

Attorney General Jim Hood says in a news release that 46-year-old Phillip Willis was indicted in Neshoba County on three counts of false pretense. Willis has been freed on bond.

Hood says Willis is accused of defrauding four victims in three separate cases of more than $45,000 while doing business as owner/agent of Capital Risk Insurance Company in Philadelphia.

He says Willis allegedly took payments from the victims to cover insurance premiums but never pay the premiums. Hood says that resulted in the victims' coverage being cancelled or their having to repay their premium in order to keep from being cancelled.
