Police find burned body, could be missing woman

MINDEN, La. — A forensic pathologist has been called in from Baton Rouge to identify burned remains that could be a missing Bossier City woman.

Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office spokesman Bill Davis says authorities can't tell if the remains are those of 46-year-old Ann Bond. He said dental and other records would be used to identify the body.

"We're going to be there for a while," Davis said.

The burned remains were found Monday in a wooded area of Webster Parish where her estranged husband Robert Bond was known to hunt. It's about five miles north of Minden, near Bayou Dorcheat.

"This may lead us to believe it may be her, but we don't know at this time," Davis said.

Davis said Ann Bond's relatives have been notified.

Deputies in Bossier and Webster parishes had been looking for the woman since Thursday.

Authorities obtained a warrant to arrest Robert Bond, 53, on second-degree murder charges after physical evidence at the couple's house and witness statements led them to believe he killed Ann Bond.

Authorities tracked down Robert Bond using signals from a mobile phone, finding him sleeping in the back of his truck in an Interstate 10 rest area in Gautier, Miss., just after midnight Friday.

When police tapped on the truck window, they said Bond pulled out a handgun and shot himself in the chin. He remains hospitalized in Pascagoula, Miss.
