New police, fire chiefs in McComb

MCCOMB, Miss. — The men who have been interim chiefs of McComb's police and fire departments now have the jobs permanently.

The Enterprise-Journal reports (http://bit.ly/1aaEnjb ) that the board of selectmen on Tuesday approved the hiring of Scott McKenzie as police chief and Stephen Adams as fire chief.

City Administrator Quordiniah Lockley recommended the hirings.

The hirings ending a nearly four-month search for the positions.

Each chief will make a salary of $62,635 as mandated by the city's payroll scale.

McKenzie has been with the police department since 1995, while Adams has been with the fire department since 1989.

Police Chief Greg Martin and Fire Chief B.J. Nettles retired simultaneously at the end of August.
