The combined choruses of the Meridian Symphony Orchestra and Central United Methodist Church will present "Requiem" by K. Lee Scott on Sunday at 3 p.m. in the sanctuary of Central United Methodist Church.
The MSO Chorus is under the direction of Robert Hermetz. Len Bobo is the director of the Central United Methodist Church Chorus.
Special guest conductor for the program is the composer, K. Lee Scott. Scott is a nationally recognized composer of works for chorus, keyboard, voice, and orchestra, most notably his "Requiem" and hundreds of sacred compositions in the choral field. he also is a noted clinician who conducts workshops and seminars throughout the U.S. and abroad.
The Sunday concert also will feature organists, David Benson and Len Bobo on representative compositions for the newly refurbished pip organ at the church. Bobo is also a composer of choral and organ music. He is an instructor of piano at East Central Community College. Benson is organist-choirmaster at St. Paul's Episcopal Church and serves as accompanist for the MSO Chorus. He also co-directs the Cambiata Singers along with Dr. Hermetz.
The "Requiem" will be accompanied by members of the Meridian Symphony Orchestra and organist Benson. Soloists will be baritone Benny Eggler and soprano Amy Poole. There will be no charge for the program. A reception will honor composer K. Lee Scott after the concert.
