Meridian native murdered in Georgia

MERIDIAN —     A Meridian woman who recently moved to Columbus Georgia was murdered Tuesday night in a domestic dispute by her live-in boyfriend.

Londell Vashon Walker, 23, was taken into custody by the Columbus Police Department after being accused of shooting 28-year-old Jessica Osborne.

Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan said Osborne died of a single shot to the head and was pronounced dead at the scene.

"They moved into their new home on Friday," Bryan said. "So they had not been living in the residence long before this incident occurred."

Bryan said the dispute between Walker and Osborne began outside in front of the residence located on the 4000 block of Forrest Road.

"Neighbors witnessed a violent dispute between Walker and Osborne around 7 p.m. in front of the house," Bryan said. "After the argument moved inside, gunshots were heard by neighbors who then contacted authorities. The house was in disarray with furniture flipped over and appliances on the floor. Walker later walked out of the home with blood on his clothes."

Walker, a convicted felon, has served more than two years at a Georgia prison for burglary and theft.

Walker will have his preliminary hearing on Saturday.

"This marks the 12th homicide so far this year for Columbus Georgia," Bryan said. "Last year we had 25 homicides, so we are on target to equal or even to surpass last year's statistics."

Osborne had three children, none of which were present the time of the incident. She attended Meridian High School and was a graduate of Meridian Community College.
