Meridian will welcome competitors in the East Central High School Rodeo this weekend.
Rob Seals, director of the Lauderdale County Agri-Center, said Thursday that the competition begins tonight at 7 p.m. and will continue on Saturday.
"These kids are gunning for national titles. This is the heart of the rodeo season for a lot of the high school kids with their finals being in the summer," Seals said. "Everybody is on board right now. It's not one of those late spring rodeos where they don't have a shot at going to the state finals or the national finals. With that in mind, the doors are open and it's anybody's ball game at this point."
More than 240 people have registered to compete in rodeo. Tickets are $10 for a two-day pass. Those 18 and younger get in free if accompanied by an adult.
