One of two robbery, kidnapping suspects found

MERIDIAN —     One of two suspects in a March kidnapping/armed robbery has been found and is currently in the Lauderdale County Detention Facility.

Vishitti Tamara Coleman-Gaines, 28, 1211 27th Ave., Apt. 2, has been charged in connection with an early morning robbery of the Sidetrack Lounge on Highway 19 South at Whynot.

According to Chief Deputy Ward Calhoun of the Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department, Coleman-Gaines and an unidentified male allegedly robbed the lounge at gunpoint at about 12:30 a.m. on March 19.

Coleman-Gaines was believed to have left the state.

"She was captured out of state on another charge and returned here," Calhoun said.

In a previous report of the robbery, the owner of the business and one other person were said to be inside the lounge when a man and a woman entered, pulled handguns, forced the victims on the floor, and took cash and surveillance equipment.

The suspects were said to have fled south on Highway 19 in a dark colored SUV.

The investigation is ongoing for the unidentified male, Calhoun said.
