MERIDIAN —     Two people walking along Meridian streets Tuesday evening were robbed at gunpoint, according to police.

Meridian Police Department Lt. Dean Harper, commander of the department's Criminal Investigation Division, said at about 5:25 p.m. Tuesday a black male approached a person along the 5300 block of Fifth Street, pulled out a handgun and demanded money. Harper said the man ran away after getting an undetermined amount of cash.

Harper said the details of the second robbery were pretty much the same. A black male approached a person in the Coopers Circle area of Meridian at 8:30 p.m., produced a handgun and demanded money. Once the suspect got what he wanted he ran away.

The victims in the robberies were not hurt.
