MERIDIAN —

The folks at Jean's Restaurant, located at 2114 Front Street in Meridian, graciously agreed to allow us use of their facility for our first "Coffee with The Meridian Star" on Wednesday, Nov. 14, from 7:30-8:30 a.m.

Drop by and we will treat you to a cup of coffee.

We would like to get to know you and give you a chance to get to know us.

The Star Publisher Tim Holder and Executive Editor Michael Stewart will be on hand. Stop in to say "hi" or to tell us what you would like to see us cover in the future.

The Meridian Star is your paper and we want you to help us make a good publication even better.

We hope to make "Coffee with The Meridian Star" a regular event that would take place at various locations throughout our coverage area.

We are committed to improving The Star and welcome your feedback. Rather than focus on what the paper has done on the past, we would like to talk with you about what you would like to see the paper become in the future.

We have already made some changes. For one thing, we have increased the amount of local news in the paper. Our feeling is that while you can get national and world news from the Internet and on television, our readers depend on The Star to inform them of events and news in their own communities.

Our goal is to increase our local coverage even more and to expand it to all sections of the newspaper.

Our next big push will be to provide more local sports coverage. We do a good job reporting high school sports, but will soon be providing more coverage of youth and adult leagues in our coverage area.
