Meridian Police Department weekend crime roundup

MERIDIAN —     Meridian Police Department authorities are investigating a reported strong armed robbery that occurred over the weekend.

    According to Capt. Dean Harper, commander of the MPD's Criminal Investigation Division, officers responded to the 300 block of Highway 19 North around 7:15 p.m. Friday to a report of a robbery. When officers arrived on the scene they spoke to the alleged victim who told officers he was assaulted and robbed by three black men. The victim told officers the three men ran away but couldn't give officers a good description of any of the suspects.

    Harper said the victim did suffer minor injuries as a result of the alleged robbery.

    MPD officers and detectives also made several arrests in connection with other incidents.

    Harper said Friday afternoon, police arrested 46-year-old Gregory J. Bott of Meridian and charged him with forgery/uttering. Bond was set at $5,000.

    Friday evening, Harper said MPD authorities arrested 29-year-old Daniel R. Baxley of Meridian and charged him with grand larceny. This arrest stems from a theft that occurred on Oct. 2 of this year, Harper said. Bond for Baxley was set at $5,000.

    Saturday evening, Harper said police arrested 29-year-old Shawn W. Ethridge of Marion and charged him with grand larceny. This arrest stems from a larceny that occurred in late June of this year, Harper said. Bond for Ethridge was set at $30,000.
