Sheriff's Department investigates robbery

MERIDIAN —     A robber with a machete took money from a store on Highway 145 on Friday.

Lauderdale County Sheriff Billy Sollie said the robbery happened around 1:30 at the B and D Grocery.

"A male was let out of a pickup truck, a gray truck," Sollie said. "The driver stayed inside the vehicle and a white male, approximately six feet tall and wearing all black placed a white plastic bag over his head and entered the store."

The man with the machete demanded money from the clerk, Sollie said. He returned to the truck and the two men left. There were no injuries and Sollie said they are trying to determine the amount of money that was taken.

If you have any information that might help the investigation, you may report it to Crimestoppers at 601-485-1860.
