Arrests made in recent cases

MERIDIAN —     Several arrests have been made in local cases in Meridian.

Meridian Police Department Capt. Dean Harper, commander of the department's Criminal Investigation Division, said around 5 p.m. Thursday MPD officers responded to a reported robbery at a store located in the 1700 block of South Frontage Road.

While enroute to the call, a description of the suspect was given and a person was taken into custody close to the scene, Harper said.

According to the victim, a male dressed as a female came into the store and shoplifted some items. When the suspect was confronted by the store employee, the suspect produced a device similar to a taser and used it to flee from the store. Harper said the employee was not tased.

Charges are pending on the subject in custody. No further information was available.

Also Thursday, Meridian Police Department officers arrested 21-year-old Fannetta Mitchell of Meridian and charged her with aggravated domestic violence.

Harper said this charge stems from an altercation on Tuesday where Mitchell allegedly stabbed her boyfriend in the shoulder.

The victim has been released from the hospital and is recovering.

Mitchell's bond was set at $15,000.

Meridian Police Department officers arrested 32-year-old Reginald J. Walton of Meridian and charged him with intimidating a witness, Harper said.

    Bond was set at $50,000.
