Navy recruit graduates basic

MERIDIAN —     Navy Seaman Recruit Benjamin Barnett graduated from basic military training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois, November 1, at 11:30 a.m. with his division #415. Barnett was the Religious Petty Officer. He was awarded a Bravo Zulu which is navy "well done". He is currently enrolled in A-School and expects to graduate in May 2014.

    The seaman recruit completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies. Navy core value, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills are taught during this training.

    Barnett is the son of Marilyn Barnett and Mike Barnett. Grandson of Opal and Jesse Paul Barnett Jr.

    He is a 2013 graduate of Northeast High School and a voluntary fireman at Northeast Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department.
