Charlotte Johnson Herrington Memorial Leadership Scholarship established

MERIDIAN —     The family of the late Charlotte Johnson Herrington and the Lauderdale Baptist Association announce the establishment of the Charlotte Johnson Herrington Memorial Leadership Scholarship for the Baptist Student Union of Meridian Community College and Mississippi State University / Meridian.

    "This scholarship is established for the purpose of encouraging and assisting students who are active in the BSU of MCC or MSU Meridian," a press release states. "It is in recognition of Charlotte Johnson Herrington’s ministry to students of MCC and MSU Meridian and is established in an effort to memorialize the hard work and unending desire of Charlotte to begin and grow the ministry of Baptist Student Union."

    The $500 minimum scholarship will be awarded annually to a student that demonstrates involvement and leadership in the local Baptist Student Union.         Application for this scholarship may be obtained from the MCC / MSU Meridian Baptist Student Union office or the Lauderdale Baptist Association office.

    The scholarship is funded by private donations and administered by the Mississippi Baptist Foundation. Persons wishing to contribute to this scholarship fund in memory of Charlotte Johnson Herrington are encouraged to do so by contacting Lauderdale Baptist Association at 5521 Clinton Street, Marion, MS 39342 or the Mississippi Baptist Foundation at 515 Mississippi Street, Jackson, MS 39205.
