MERIDIAN —     Hope Village Children's Home is getting ready to celebrate its 10th anniversary with its first major fundraising gala and the event is going to be star-studded.

"We are so excited about our first ever Hope Village fundraising gala April 20th," said Meridian native Sela Ward, the founder of Hope Village. "We are celebrating 10 years of service to Mississippi’s foster children and making plans for the next 10 years."

Ward, who portrays detective Jo Danville on the hit CBS police drama CSI: NY, said several of her cast mates from CSI will be in Meridian for the event that will be held at the MSU Riley Center. Among them are actors Gary Sinise, Carmine Giovinazzo, A.J. Buckley, Robert Joy and Hill Harper.

Sponsorships, not tickets, are being sold on two levels, platinum and gold.

"This fundraiser is heavily dependent on the generosity and donated time of volunteers so the board of directors decided it would be more feasible to sell 35 tables to corporations rather than 300 seats to individuals," Ward said. "We have been thrilled with the results and have almost sold out the event."

However there are a few tables left, so those interested in purchasing a sponsorship should contact Rhonda Poole at rhondaapoole@aol.com.

"At Hope Village, we are constantly reminded of the extraordinary loving, giving hearts of Meridian’s community and beyond," Ward said. "We are so blessed to be a part of it."

Those not planning to attend can still catch a glimpse of the stars. Ward said the public is invited to arrive outside the Riley Center around 6 p.m. on April 20 to watch the stars disembark from limousines and walk the red carpet.
