An ambulance was badly damaged in an accident downtown Saturday afternoon.
Clayton Cobler, director of Metro Ambulance Service, said the accident happened around 3 p.m. on Saturday at the intersection of Eighth Street and 23rd Avenue.
The ambulance was headed north on Eighth on its way to a call in Collinsville, when it collided with a car on 23rd Avenue.
The ambulance had no patient at the time of the accident and the personnel, along with those from the other vehicle were taken to an emergency room and checked out. Cobler said there were no serious injuries.
Both vehicles appeared to be totaled, he said, but the ambulance part of the vehicle can be remounted on another truck.
