Local woman arrested for robbery

MERIDIAN —     Meridian Police Department authorities arrested one woman for robbery and several other people were taken into custody in an alleged assault case.

MPD Capt. Dean Harper said Thursday afternoon that 52-year-old Kawame M. Shannon of Meridian was arrested Wednesday and charged with robbery.

Harper said this charge stems from the incident reported on Wednesday where a man was reportedly robbed in his home in the 2000 block of 26th Avenue. The alleged robbery took place the day before on Tuesday.

Harper said the victim and suspect knew each other prior to the robbery.

Bond for Shannon was set at $20,000.

Harper said also Wednesday, at 4:11 p.m., police responded to a disturbance that occurred in the 4100 block of 58th Place. A female who was cut with a knife during the disturbance was treated at a local hospital.

Harper said persons of interest were detained at the scene and questioned and the investigation continues.
