Two killed in early morning crash

    Two people died after they were involved in a two-vehicle crash Wednesday morning in Collinsville.

    Sgt. Any West, public affairs officer for the Mississippi Highway Patrol's Troop H in Meridian, said the two fatalities were Joseph D. Doyle, 50, of 10881 CR 820, Philadelphia, and Hunter L. McQuaig, 24, of 7481 Timberlane Drive, Meridian.

    Lauderdale County Coroner Clayton Cobler said both men were transported to Meridian hospital emergency rooms where they were pronounced dead.

    According to authorities at the scene, at about 6:50 a.m. Doyle was traveling southbound in a 2006 Saturn Ion, and McQuaig was traveling northbound in a 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse when the accident occurred.

    Collinsville Volunteer and Rescue Department, Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department, and Mississippi Highway Patrol personnel responded to the accident along with Metro Ambulance Service.
