MERIDIAN —     The Threefoot Preservation Society will have the initial cleanup of the Threefoot Building on Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon.

The cleaning will concentrate on the exterior but will also include limited first floor clean up. Exterior cleanup will be getting rid of weeds, cleaning up debris, and cleaning the windows.

According to Elliot Street society members are excited that they will able to get into the first floor and begin doing some clean up.

"We will be able to get into the old Threefoot Deli as will as other parts of the first floor," Street said.

"Bill Webster serves as crew chief and has called all the volunteers and lined them up with jobs and given them instructions." Street added.

Some additional crew organization may occur Saturday morning but only among the volunteers that have been processed and have signed site releases.

"We're really excited about this because this'll start giving the building the appearance of having a little life again," Street said.

Elliot said an important part of the effort was the contributions of the sponsors. Magnolia Beverage, local distributor of Sun Drop, is providing drinks. Dominoes Pizza is providing food for the workers. Waste Plus is providing disposal bins for the trash picked up by the group. The city of Meridian donated resources and Community Bank donated notary services for some of the paperwork.

Street concluded, "Unless your are part of the crew you won't be able to come inside the fence, but please come by and see it and watch the people work and be a part of this important event as we move forward."
