MPD lists arrests, ongoing cases

MERIDIAN —    Meridian Police Department authorities made arrests in connection with a variety of crimes that reportedly occurred over the weekend.

According to MPD Asst. Chief James Sharpe, detectives arrested 21-year-old Tyesha T. Thedford of Meridian and charged her with armed robbery. Sharpe said this charge stems from an incident that occurred at the Super Inn Hotel located at 1010 North Frontage Road. Thedford's bond was set at $50,000 and she is currently being held in the Lauderdale County Adult Detention Facility awaiting further legal and/or bonding actions.

MPD authorities are seeking the whereabouts of five individuals who on Saturday are said to have forced their way into a room and robbed several occupants at gunpoint. Sharpe said the incident occurred at about 9:49 p.m. in the 600 block of 22nd Avenue South. Sharpe said the suspects include three black men and two black women. Sharpe said shortly after the initial call a person of interest was taken into custody.

In other incidents, Sharpe said two teenagers were taken into custody Saturday on suspicion of attempted burglary. Sharpe said Monday the two teens, Jacorrie C. Robinson, 18, and an unnamed 17-year-old male, were charged with attempted residential burglary. Sharpe said the two teens were taken into custody in the 3300 block of 27th Avenue Saturday after a resident called 911 around noon Saturday informing dispatchers of a burglary in progress. The 17-year-old was turned over to the Lauderdale County Juvenile Center and is awaiting further processing. Robinson was placed on $5,000 bond and has since been freed after posting his required amount.

MPD authorities also made two arrests Friday.

Sharpe said detectives arrested Reginald D. Allen, 36, of Meridian and charged him with embezzlement. Sharpe said this charge is in connection with an incident that occurred at the A&A Express Lane Convenience Store, formerly known as Stuckey's, located at 1500 Highway 11 South. Allen's bond has been set at $10,000. Allen has since met his bond requirements and is out of jail awaiting further legal action.

Also Friday, Sharpe said Shannon T. Jackson, 32, of Meridian, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault. Sharpe said this charge stems from an incident that occurred in the 4100 block of 58th Place. Jackson's bond was set at $10,000. Sharpe said Jackson has met her bond requirements and is currently out of jail awaiting further legal action.
