Police looking for kidnapping suspect

MERIDIAN —     Meridian Police Department authorities are searching for a man who allegedly got into a woman's car and ordered her to drive around for hours before he jumped out in Meridian.

MPD Capt. Dean Harper, commander of the department's Criminal Investigation Division, said the Wayne County woman was surprised early Friday morning when one of two men who stopped to help start her car, jumped in and forced her to drive around for more than four hours.

"When they got to Meridian he made her drive to the Highway 19 North Wal-Mart where he jumped out of the car and fled on foot," said Harper. "That was right around noon and we are hoping, given the amount of traffic during the noon hour in the area, that someone saw a man running from the area."

Harper said the suspect was reportedly running toward North Hills Street.

Harper said the suspect was described as a white male, about six feet tall and who the victim said was "very dirty."

The victim was unhurt in the incident.

Harper said if anyone remembers seeing anything unusual during that time and in the area of Wal-Mart, to call Crime Stoppers at 601-485-1860.
