Local man shot to death

MERIDIAN —     A 37-year-old Meridian man died Tuesday of a gunshot wound.

    Capt. Dean Harper, chief of detectives for the Meridian Police Department identified the victim as Terandy Hampton.

    Harper said Hampton was found dead at his home at 1109 Grand Ave., after police received a call saying that shots had been fired. Police found Hampton with a gunshot wound in his head and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

    "At this time police are examining evidence gathered at the scene and interviewing witnesses as well as persons of interest who were picked up shortly afterwards," Harper said.
