MCC band to perform Sunday

MERIDIAN —     The Meridian Community College Band will present its spring concert Sunday beginning at 2 p.m. in the McCain Theater.

The Meridian Community College Band was organized in January of 1981, under the direction of Carey Smith. The ensemble is comprised of 50-60 members, college and auditioned high school players, as well as members of the community at large.

The season for the concert band runs from January to April with a Spring Concert at that time. The bands repertoire consists of famous marches, new music written for the ensemble, highlights from Broadway shows, novelty pieces and serious orchestral transcriptions of overtures.

Admission to the Community Band concert is free of charge. For more information, contact Hill at 601-484-8696.
