Two plead guilty to sex charges with minors

MERIDIAN —     JACKSON — Two members of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians pled guilty to sex charges involving minors, according to the Department of Justice.

In the first case, Brandon Farmer, 20, pled guilty Thursday to abusive sexual contact of a minor under the age of 12, U.S. Attorney Gregory K. Davis and FBI Special Agent in Charge Daniel McMullen announced.

Senior U.S. District Judge Tom S. Lee presided over the case.

The offense occurred on the tribal lands of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians, according to a Department of Justice press release.

Farmer will be sentenced on July 31, 2014 and faces a maximum sentence of life in prison and a $250,000 fine.

The case was investigated by the FBI and the Choctaw Police Department. The prosecutor is Assistant U.S. Attorney Patrick Lemon.

In the second case, Gary Tubby, 53, pled guilty Friday before U.S. District Judge Carleton W. Reeves, to sexual exploitation of children.

Davis and McMullen handled that case as well.

The offense occurred on tribal lands, a Department of Justice press release states.

Tubby will be sentenced Aug. 5 and faces a minimum prison sentence of 15 years and a maximum sentence of 30 years, as well as a maximum fine of $250,000.

Lemon was the prosecutor in that case as well.
