One person has been charged in a weekend shooting that left two people injured with gunshot wounds.
Meridian Police Department Capt. Dean Harper, commander of the Criminal Investigation Division for the MPD, said Wednesday that charges were filed Tuesday against Andrew T. McDonald, 31, of Meridian in connection with the shooting. Harper said McDonald has been charged with felon in possession of a firearm. McDonald's bond has been set at $125,000.
According to Harper the shooting occurred at about 2:30 p.m. Saturday in the 1900 block of Ninth Avenue. Two people were hit by what Harper said were about 70 rounds fired by two parties. Harper said the injuries were not life threatening.
Harper said three cars were also hit multiple times by the gunfire. Also, one house was struck by several bullets. No motive on the shooting has been released as yet.
Harper said more arrests are likely.
