Police search for suspect in liquor store holdup

MERIDIAN —     Meridian police continue to search for a suspect in an armed robbery at a local liquor store Tuesday night.

    According to Captain Dean L. Harper, chief of detectives, Criminal Investigations Division, just before 9 p.m. police responded to an armed robbery call at the 19th Street Liquor Store.

    "Upon arrival, they were advised a black male with his face covered entered the store and robbed the clerk at gunpoint before fleeing on foot," Harper said.

    The suspect is described at 5-feet 8 inches tall and weighing 185 pounds.

    The clerk was uninjured.      

    Meridian police also made several major arrests Tuesday.

     Clifton P. Pigg, 42, has been charged with two counts of grand larceny. One charge was for an outstanding warrant from an incident last month. The other charge was for an incident in the 19 North Walmart parking lot Tuesday, where an officer chased Pigg down on foot after a lady's purse was stolen, according to a police report.

    Pigg's bond was set at $25,000 per charge.

    In an unrelated incident, Charles M. Brock, 22, of Meridian, was arrested and charged with weapon possession by a felon and possession of a stolen firearm.

    Brock's bond was set at $20,000 per charge.

    Jermarcus Glenn, 19, of Meridian, was arrested and charged with possession of a stolen firearm.

    Glenn's bond was set at $10,000.
