MERIDIAN — At least one person died in a Saturday afternoon accident on Airport Boulevard. A police spokesman said one person was pronounced dead at the scene and three more were transported to area hospitals for treatment following a head-on collision that occurred after 3 p.m. when one car crossed the center line on a railroad overpass.

Police crash scene investigators were at the site trying to determine the cause of the wreck. Traffic in both directions of Airport Boulevard on either side of the bypass was blocked while investigators worked the scene.

Fire department crews and ambulances were also at the scene.
