Absentee voting starts today

MERIDIAN —     Absentee voting in the Democratic runoff election for two city council seats gets under way today at Meridian City Hall.

    Those who will be out of town on the day of the election, May 21, or otherwise need to vote absentee may cast their ballots from 8 a.m. until noon today at City Hall. Absentee voting will continue Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.; and again on Saturday, May 18, from 8 a.m. until noon.

    In Ward Two, Kenneth Dustin Markham will face incumbent Mary A.B. Perry and in Ward Four, Kim Houston will face incumbent Jesse E. Palmer Sr.

    There is no Republican runoff election this time.

    The general election will be held June 4.
