JACKSON —     Mississippi Public Broadcasting (MPB) announces the premiere of “@Issue,” a new television show presenting the stories, the issues and the people of the 2013 legislative session. The weekly show will air each Thursday during the legislative session at 7 p.m. The first episode premieres Jan. 31.

“Medicaid, education reform, job creation are some of the topics ‘@Issue’ will explore to stimulate debate, raise pertinent questions and keep Mississippians informed about the legislative session,” said Ronnie Agnew, executive director for MPB. “The show will bring a balanced view of the legislative decisions that will affect Mississippians in every corner of our state.”

Each year state lawmakers leave their hometowns to gather in the state capital and tackle important issues. The decision-making may happen in Jackson, but the laws that are approved affect every corner of the state. With “@Issue,” MPB hopes to bring the hot topics at the state capitol into homes across Mississippi.

During the show, MPB staff will be live tweeting and posting on social media. Viewers can contribute to the show through Twitter via @IssueMPB and on Facebook via facebook.com/IssueMPB. Additional clips, photos and content will be available on Facebook following each show.
