Police charge man with armed robberies

MERIDIAN —     Meridian Police Department authorities have charged a Meridian man with recent robbery incidents that occurred in the city.

    Capt. Dean Harper, commander of the MPD's Criminal Investigation Division, said Anthony Bender, 19, has been charged with two counts of armed robbery stemming from incidents in which two individuals in College Park were robbed at gunpoint on September 26 of last year.

    Harper said police had been searching for Bender this entire time and found him Monday morning hiding in the attic of a residence in Meridian.

    Bond for Bender was set at $100,000 per charge.

    In other cases, MPD detectives arrested the following subjects for the listed charges.

    Ronald E. Nicholson, 21, of Third Street in Meridian was arrested for felon in possession of a firearm. His bond was set at $25,000.

    Demarcus D. Harmon, 28, of Dogwood Drive in Canton, was charged with two counts of felony domestic violence. No bond has been set in this case.

    Troy Nix, 29, of Old Highway 80 in Meridian, was charged with felony shoplifting. Harper said his bond was set at $25,000.
