Johnson faces domestic violence charges

MERIDIAN —     A Meridian man who fled the scene of a weekend domestic violence incident has been apprehended and charged by the Meridian Police Department.

    Ladarius T. Johnson, 22, of 1316 33rd Ave., BD 1, was charged with aggravated domestic violence on Monday by Meridian police. He is currently housed at the Lauderdale County Detention Facility.

     According to Capt. Dean Harper, chief of detectives for MPD's Criminal Investigations Division, police were flagged down on B Street Sunday afternoon in reference to a domestic violence call.

    "Police found a female who had been severely beaten by her boyfriend," Harper said. "Although the suspect fled the scene on foot, police were able to apprehend him later.

    The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Her injuries were not life threatening, Harper said.

    Johnson also faces disorderly conduct/failure to obey law enforcement charges. His bond has been set at $100,000.
