Rumors that a student suspended at Clarkdale Attendance Center brought a gun to school are untrue, according to a Lauderdale County School District administrator.
According to Assistant Superintendent Ed Mosley, a Clarkdale student was suspended for making a verbal threat against another student. A third student later went to school officials and reported that the suspended student had brought a gun to school on Monday.
"The student didn't report that he saw the gun until the next day," Mosley said.
Officials from the Lauderdale County Sheriff Department went to the home of the student reported to have had the gun.
"Every gun in the home was under lock and key," the assistant superintendent said. "The gun allegedly described by the student was not in the home."
Mosley noted bringing a gun to school is automatic expulsion.
