Round Table Club of Meridian to celebrate 100 years

MERIDIAN —    The Round Table Club of Meridian will celebrate its 100th anniversary of community service at Merrehope at 2 p.m. today.

    The club began as a literary club, with a primary mission of promoting the written word. In the earlier years, Round Table Club volunteered many hours with the Meridian Public Library.

    Round Table Club formed in 1913 and Federated in 1914. Round Table Club affiliated with General Federated Women's Club (GFWC) and Mississippi Federation of Women's Clubs (MFWC) in 1914.

    Since the mid-1960s, Round Table Club has volunteered at Merrehope Mansion with many varied projects as well as franchised projects through MFWC.

    Local and state members of the Round Table Club will will participate in the meeting at Merrehope, located at 905 MLK Drive in Meridian.

    Round Table is listed as a Pioneer Club with Mississippi Federated Women's Clubs.
