Blues Brothers live on

MERIDIAN —     It’s been more than 30 years since they first stormed the stage of Saturday Night Live, but the star characters of the cult classic movie haven’t slowed down. Jake Blues and brother Elwood Blues live on through “The Official Blues Brothers Revue,” a touring show which features dancing, comedy, and a talented band playing numbers from the movie as well as Blues Brother albums. The show comes to the MSU Riley Center tonight at 7:30 p.m.

Wayne Catania and Kieron Lafferty assume the roles of the blues-singing brothers from Chicago and are extraordinarily convincing as they slip into the simple black suits and personas first brought to life by John Belushi and Dan Akroyd, according to a press release.

"With help from the Intercontinental Rhythm & Blues Band, several talented singers, and the trademark irreverent humor, the Revue creates a live concert experience, treating the audience to many of the well-known songs from the Blues Brothers movie," the press release states.

The show is produced by Judy Belushi Pisano (wife of the late John Belushi) and Dan Akroyd.

Tickets are $45 and $39 at the MSU Riley Center box office. Tickets can also be purchased online at www.msurileycenter.com or by calling the box office at 601-696-2200.
