Voices of Hope

MERIDIAN —     The Fourth Annual Voices of Hope program will take place from 6-7:30 p.m. today at New Canaan Baptist Church, located at 4822 26th Street in Meridian.

    The program will focus on aspects of minority mental health as part of the observance of national Minority Mental Health Awareness Month.

    The U.S. Congress designated July as the month to observe minority mental health awareness in 2008. The program is free and open to all.

     Arjeanetta Cary, who has a personal story of having a daughter diagnosed with mental illness, is one of the featured speakers. The Honorable Veldore Young, 10th Judicial District judge and 10th Judicial District Drug Court judge will also speak at the event.

     Sponsors for the Fourth Annual Voices of Hope program are the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Meridian Affiliate; Alliance Health Center; NFusionX and Weems Community Mental Health Center.
