MPD notes three arrests in weekend incidents

MERIDIAN — A husband and wife were among those arrested and charged in connection with incidents that reportedly occurred this past weekend.

Meridian Police Department Capt. Dean Harper, commander of the department's Criminal Investigation Division, said three people are now facing charges.

Harper said on Friday, MPD officers arrested and charged 53-year-old Gregory V. Schlegel of Philadelphia with two counts of commercial burglary. Harper said these charges stem from the burglaries of a business in Meridian in which allegedly Schlegel burglarized the business then reportedly came back and burglarized it again.

Harper credited members of the department's Delta Platoon for the investigation and identification of the suspect and members of the Alpha Platoon for Schlegel's capture just hours later.

Bond for Schlegel was set at $20,000 per charge.

In an unrelated incident, Harper said that Saturday, MPD officers charged 34-year-old Quentia M. Moore-Weir, and 30-year-old LaMarcus L. Weir, both of Weir, with seven counts of forgery. The husband and wife had their bonds set at $50,000.
