MPD working robbery incident

MERIDIAN — Detectives with the Meridian Police Department are trying to locate a person who allegedly committed a robbery Monday night.

MPD Capt. Dean Harper, commander of the department's Criminal Investigation Division, said police officers were called to a local hospital's emergency room to talk with a person who claimed to have been robbed. When officers talked to the victim, who was being treated for unspecified injuries, they were told a person assaulted and robbed the victim sometime Monday evening as the victim was walking to his car that was parked in the 1700 block of Second Street.

Harper said the victim could not give a good description of the suspect who made off on foot with an undetermined amount of cash. No weapon was reportedly used during the incident and detectives are investigating the case as a strong armed robbery.

Monday, Meridian Police charged 21-year-old Larry Huggins of Meridian with possession of a stolen firearm. Harper said the firearm was stolen from a vehicle in October of 2012. Bond for Huggins was set at $10,000.

Also Monday, Meridian Police charged 32-year-old Raven M. Davis of Meridian with identity theft. Davis' bond was set at $10,000.
