Clarke County man shot

MERIDIAN —     A Clarkdale man is being treated for a gunshot wound after an incident that occurred at the man's home early Friday morning.

Clarke County Sheriff Todd Kemp said deputies were called to a home on CR 350 just south of the Clarke County, Lauderdale County line to a report of shots being fired. Kemp said when deputies arrived on the scene they found a man in his late 30s suffering from a single gunshot wound to the leg.

"The victim was transported to a hospital and has been receiving surgery to remove the bullet and some fragments from the wound," Kemp said.

Kemp said the victim told deputies he was standing in his front yard around 3 a.m. when someone drove by and shot at him, hitting him once in the leg.

Kemp said the investigation into the incident is ongoing but no arrests have been made yet.
