Waste Pro temp employee possible target of shooters

JACKSON, Miss. —     Meridian police are unsure if anyone was injured this morning when the a Waste Pro truck was reportedly shot at several times.

    Police are on scene investigating the shooting that occurred before 10 a.m. near the intersection of 58th Avenue and Arthur Street, about a block from Oakland Heights.

    Police initially said they believed the driver of the Waste Pro truck was the target of a least two shooters. A Waste Pro official said, however, the target of the shooters was actually a temporary employee working as a helper handling garbage on teh back of the truck. Initial reports from the scene are the dump truck was struck by at least 13 bullets.

    Police were searching for those who fired the shots.
